Do you believe in luck?

Do you believe in luck?

We relocated from Lancashire to Cornwall at the start of September last year.  It was a big decision to make but also an easy one in a way, because it just felt right.  It's something we'd fancied doing for a long time but could't before because of family commitments.

I wanted to share a little bit about our journey with you.  You might be thinking of relocating yourself and this might help you to hear how it was for us.  It's not been easy.  As you know social media shows all the highlights and you might even see my posts of being on the beach in the morning and think "oh is't she lucky."

I've got to say, I don't believe in luck.  I believe in visualising your dreams and doing things that will make those dreams come true, while keeping a positive mindset towards those dreams.

We decided to come here before we'd even bought a house, because I wanted my youngest to start secondary school at the same time as everyone else for his first year.  Just weeks before school was due to start we still hadn't found anywhere to stay.  I stood strong with my belief that this would happen and one morning I wasn't going to let anything stand in my way.  I could feel that this was the time to make this happen.  I sat down on my laptop searching for a place to rent.  Phone call after phone call it was the same response "Sorry, we don't have anything for you". Some letting agents were full with their waiting lists, one had 60  applications  for the same house? I Thought they'd said 16 but no it was 60.  What chance did we have with two kids and pets from outside the area?  I could have given up, but if you know me you know I am way to stubborn to give up. FAILURE CANNOT LIVE WITH PERSISTENCE that's my favourite saying and I live by it.

My hubby asked me if I wanted any dinner, I replied  "NO I can't stop, I have to find us a house".  I kept going until one phone call to a letting agent that gave me the details of another agent that wasn't on my list answered my dreams.

I went on their website and saw just one house, one.  You know how you can usually see rows of houses to let, well this was just one.  I gave them a call and a lady answered saying her husband wasn't home but she did't think they had anything available.  I said "Are you sure because there is one on the website?"  She asked me to fill in the form on the website and her husband would get back to me that afternoon.  You can imagine the wait, the tension and excitement and hope.

That afternoon he called back and said yes we do have one and if you'd like it, I will hold it for you.  I couldn't believe my ears.  I dropped everything and went to find my hubby at work and told him how urgent this was.  We had to take this property now or it would definitely go.

From saying yes to this house that I am sat in writing this blog, everything else could start to fall into place.  We could now apply for a new school because we had an address, which was another fight to get them in, in time.

This is just the start of our journey down here and as you can see, there was a lot more than luck that made this happen.  I am truly grateful for were we are now and appreciate each day here.

Was I lucky to find that one house for rent or did I find it because I didn't give up and truly believed that this would happen no matter what?

If you have a dream, go for it and don't take no for an answer.  You have got this.
